As the summer heat begins to cool and crisp autumn air settles in, the Garrard County Public Library is kicking off a busy September filled with creative activities, community gatherings, and programs for all ages. Whether you are looking to pick up a new read, craft something special, or spend a fun afternoon with family, our monthly calendar has plenty of opportunities to get involved.

This September, we are excited to celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month. It is the perfect time to make sure everyone in your household has a card, giving you access to thousands of books, digital resources, and community services. To mark the occasion, adults can craft a custom felt card holder to carry their library cards in style.

Our regular schedule is packed with engaging activities for young readers, teens, and adults alike. Young children can look forward to our weekly Wednesday Story Times, as well as hands-on fun like apple-stamping canvas totes and exploring instruments at our Instrument Petting Zoo. For older kids and teens, the library is offering a variety of after-school hangouts, including LEGO Club, Pokémon Club, Retro Gaming Sessions, and a stress-relieving worry pet craft.

We are also honoring community legacy and local history this month. Join us on Saturday, September 12th, for the Dale Moore Memorial Dedication as we unveil a special commemorative portrait celebrating his lasting contributions to Garrard County.

Book lovers have two great discussion groups to look forward to with our Early Bird Book Club and Thursday Book Club, while wizarding fans can put their magic knowledge to the test during our Harry Potter Fandom Party and team trivia night.

Be sure to grab your monthly Book Boxes starting September 2nd, pick up Take & Make craft kits beginning September 8th, and note that the library will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.
